Makana Pono: Employee Giving Program

Mike Kuo
Skilled Nurse, RN

Organization: First Church Hawaii
Mike Kuo is our March Makana Pono recipient
For almost a decade, Mike Kuo, RN, has taken care of our Islands Hospice patients in the Inpatient Unit (IPU) at Palolo. Mike provides care for ohana who require a higher level of attention than can be given at home or a facility.

His compassion towards others at work is outstanding and as our March Makana Pono awardee, Mike is continuing the spirit of giving. He selected First Church Hawaii (Airport/JPBH location) to receive his $5,000 Makana Pono award to help them continue serving the community.

Mike has been a member of First Hawaii Church for over four years. “I have seen firsthand the generosity that members, and especially the pastor, have given to the community,” Mike stated. “This is a religious organization that goes out of its way to help others.”

Mike’s gift will help the church provide more opportunities to serve and bless the local community and support ministries like children’s Sunday school, young adults, marriage, music, and more!
