Makana Pono: Employee Giving Program
Keoki Robello
Executive Director, Islands Hospice Maui
Organization: Imua Family Services
This month, the Makana Pono award flew over to Maui, where executive director Keoki Robello had the honor of designating $5,000 to a local nonprofit providing vital services in its community.
Keoki selected Imua Family Services, an organization working to empower children and their families on Maui, Molokai, and Lanai to reach their full potential. The Kahului-based company is the largest single provider of childhood intervention and development programs in Hawaii.
Founded in 1947, Imua Family Services helps children and families overcome developmental learning challenges in their most critical formative years through play-based instruction. A team of dedicated professionals made up of social workers, speech and language therapists, occupational and physical therapists, and educators, help keiki thrive.
Keoki selected this organization because of the invaluable service they provide to the Maui community.“ They are consistent in their desire to be of service.” Keoki explained. Throughout the pandemic, the nonprofit continued to provide activities and resources to children learning from home and childcare for essential workers. This included virtual platforms and in-person services when it was safe.
