For this month’s Makana Pono award, we are pleased to recognize a long-time employee of Islands Hospice, Violeta Baldado. Violeta has been a part of our team for almost ten years and works as a hospice aide in the IPU at our Honolulu office.Violeta directed her $5,000 award to help Hawaii’s keiki. She selected Shriners Hospital for Children in Honolulu, a 100-year-old organization that treats children with severe health conditions. The experienced team at Shriners provides specialty orthopedic and rehabilitation services and is a leader in orthotic and prosthetic services and scoliosis and spine care for children in Hawaii. Shriners is also committed to research that improves children’s medical treatments, offering expert care for complex conditions and 24/7 keiki injury care. Similar to the mission of Islands Hospice, Shriners is dedicated to improving quality of life. Through the generosity of its donors, Shriners helps more than 1.5 million children reach their potential and lead more fulfilling lives, regardless of the families’ ability to pay. Violeta has always loved children and wanted to help them in any way she could. “I appreciated the work they do and wanted to be able to direct this donation to an organization assisting children,” said Violeta. Congratulations, Violeta! Islands Hospice is honored to have you on our team. We are grateful for the opportunity to support Hawaii keiki through your designation. |
