Through its outreach ministry, Metro Christian Church has made a positive impact on the lives of many individuals and families in Hawaii.

Paul has worked with Islands Hospice for four years as a Community Liaison, providing education and support to families and community partners as they transition into hospice services. As our April Makana Pono awardee, he selected Metro Christian Church to receive the $5,000 donation.

Through its outreach ministry, Metro Christian Church has made a positive impact on the lives of many individuals and families in Hawaii. The church has also partnered with Palama Settlement, a nonprofit, community-based social service agency that serves the Kalihi and Palama neighborhoods.

Together, Metro Christian Church and Palama Settlement are working to serve the youth and families in a variety of ways including health and wellness, educational and cultural programs. The church also helps clean the Lo‘i Kalo in the Kapālama Ahupua'a and provides support to a homeless veteran community in Kalaeloa through prayer, Bible studies and community service.

A member for three years, Paul chose Metro Christian Church because he has witnessed firsthand the impact the church has in the community. He also recognizes that the church's commitment to serving the community with compassion and care align closely with the values of Islands Hospice.

“It is an honor and privilege to do the work that we do,” said Paul. “It is a true testament of the ownership and management that we serve our community by keeping this Makana Pono program going. Mahalo to everyone at Islands Hospice for being a true blessing to the kupuna and families we serve.”
